Today marked the first of two back-to-back high-mileage runs, and overall, it felt solid-steady pacing and a few minutes quicker than before, which I’m pleased about. However, running on the streets comes with its challenges, and today was a stark reminder of how important it is to stay alert out there.
Four times, I came far too close to being hit by drivers who weren’t paying attention-all of them Uber drivers pulling into car parks! Thankfully, I’ve switched to running with bone conduction headphones instead of in-ear ones. They let me enjoy my music while staying aware of my surroundings, which made all the difference today. It’s frustrating how often these situations arise, but staying sharp on the run can make all the difference. Rant over!
Now, onto tomorrow’s half-marathon distance. Let’s see if my legs hold up! Fuelling will be key for this one, so I’ll need to stay on top of that. Here’s hoping for smooth miles ahead!
