Woke up this morning and felt the pain the moment I got out of bed. At first, I was disappointed – frustrated, even – and spent most of the day feeling down about it. But after some reflection, I decided to take this as an opportunity to focus on other areas of my fitness while giving my leg the rest it needs.
That means getting back to cross-training and incorporating more weight training. Strength work is often overlooked in marathon training, but it’s crucial for building endurance, preventing injuries, and improving overall performance. So instead of my planned 4-mile run, I went for a 40-minute session on the rowing machine, keeping my heart rate at a steady, moderate level. Not the session I expected, but still progress.
Todays film quote:
“What I’m trying to say is that the pain then is part of the happiness now.”
