Day one of cross-training on the rower on consecutive days, and the uncertainty is the hardest part – I have no idea how long this will last. Not knowing when I’ll be able to run again is frustrating, but all I can do is stay focused and make the most of it.

I was eager to push myself on the rowing machine today, aiming to match the duration it would’ve taken me to run 8 miles – what was originally on my marathon plan. It was tough, a mix of endurance and interval work, but I kept my heart rate in the same range as it would be during a run.

One session down, and tomorrow, I’m going for the same workout – but pushing it a little longer!
